Dear NSBBC Families,

We are excited to announce that we have secured gym space so we may begin our ‘22-‘23 Winter Basketball Season. The board and coaches are excited to be back in action!

  • Our program will start with fall trainings and tryouts at the Hidden Valley Field House in Bellevue, two evenings per week (typically Monday and Thursday, with a few exceptions), from Thursday, Sept. 8th – Monday, Oct. 17th. This is a Junior full court (74 ft – 3 Glass Backboard Hoops).
  • Grades 6th – 8th grade (Special request for 5th graders who want to play up)
  • Beginning the week of Oct 24th, Team practices will be held at one of the local Middle schools feeding Newport High (details to be announced).

 

In our previous communication, we shared a new approach to how we intend to build our teams this season.

  • Highlighted you will see two (2) days indicated as tryout days, Sept. 15th and Oct. 3rd. These two days are mandatory for all players who are interested in playing on an NSBBC team this season, whether they are participating in the fall training or want to walk in and tryout only. If you have an immovable conflict for either of these two tryout days, please let us know as soon as you can.
  • We are a select program and are building teams to compete at the highest levels, so one goal of the training program is to provide additional time to watch, train, and mentor players, while still offering the drop in tryout option.
  • Team invites will go out around Oct 10th and you will have 3 days to accept

 

Please note the dates and times.

  • Due to limited gym space and our desire to get started, we took what was available on weekday evenings in order to get us under way ASAP.
  • There are no penalties for missing a training, and it will not impact whether or not your player makes a team.

 

Cost

Training:

  • 10 sessions
  • $200 per player
  • $40 Drop-in Fee for the two formal tryout sessions ($20 per tryout session), for players who only want to try out, without the training program

 

Season play PEAK/ETL

  • $725 per player
  • NSBBC will supply uniforms to be returned at the end of the season
  • Players will receive a sweatshirt (to keep) and a practice pinny (to be returned at the end of the season)
  • Fees cover league fees, Coaches, gym rental, and other minor overhead expenses (state and federal filings, etc.)
  • Tournament play TBD – We will share our tournament plans as we get closer to the season

September 19th 5pm to 6:30pm Court 4 Training (Preliminary Team break out)

September 22nd 5pm to 6:30pm Court 4 Training (Preliminary Team break out)

September 28th 7:30pm to 9pm Court 3 Training (Preliminary Team break out)

 

October

October 3rd          5:30pm to 7pm Court 3 Player Evaluation / Tryout #2 ($20 drop-in fee for players not in training program)

October 5th         7:30pm to 9pm Court 4 Training Begin to finalize teams

October 10th       5:30pm to 7pm Court 3 Training (Finalize teams – (Make invites; Families have 3 days to accept)

October 17th       5:30pm to 7pm Court 3 Final training with teams formed and 90 minutes of king of the court
